It had been a really hard year. I had been incarcerated — eight months pregnant — sleeping in a place surrounded by people I didn't know, with no idea where I was going to go when I got out.

Coming out of jail, I had nowhere to go and a baby on the way. Brookside gave me a safe place to bring my daughter into the world. They gave me the resources to not only become a better person for myself, but to become the mother she deserves. I was able to get my ID, my birth certificate, and I was back on my feet and earning a paycheck.

For the first time in a long time, I was not trying to figure out where I was going to sleep. I was not house-hopping anymore. My daughter had a safe place to come home to.

I am just so grateful. Brookside has absolutely changed my life.
